K.A.U.&Wdowik have been working on the project FIASKO for over a year now. The exhibition THE SILENT CHAPTER looks back and shows impressions of the past events as well as fragments about the personal tragic origin of the project.
Two years ago, while working on their project TRANSIT MONUMENTAL, K.A.U. & Wdowik met a woman in Kalkow, a remote place in the south of Poland. She accompanied the team on their way, but did not say a word. A traveller?
Her passive presence turned the last part of the film-shoot into an irritating event. Later they learn that the woman was an opera singer and had sung the greatest arias, until the day when she suddenly fell silent in her early career. This spring, K.A.U. & Wdowik again made their way to Poland to look for the origin of her story.
The performance FIASKO – THE SILENT CHAPTER reports about a reunion and the idea of a film opera.
FIASKO is funded by the Fonds Doppelpass of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
